Our mission at SARC is to promote social justice by eliminating sexual violence in our community through education, support and advocacy.

We use the word survivor rather than victim to describe someone who has been sexually assaulted in order to reflect the person's intrinsic strength and healing capacity. We operate on the basis of empowering the survivor by encouraging them to make their own choices. We recognize that sexual assault is based on anger, power, and control and the survivor is never to blame. Our role is to ensure that survivors get the information they need, that they are listened to, and that they are treated with sensitivity, respect and dignity.
We believe that the survivor need not be alone during their healing process.

Tiburones is a wild new musical project joining the sometimes unhinged vocals of Y La Bamba's Luz Elena Mendoza, with the fiery intensity of Nick Delffs of Shaky Hands and Death Songs.

Luz and Nick began collaborating when Y La Bamba and Death Songs toured the west coast in 2012. During that tour, they discovered a mutual reverence that sung louder than words.

After touring with The Lumineers in 2012, and inspired by the journey, Luz and Nick began to collect their songs with a raw approach. "The thrill of creating new music overwhelmed us and gave us a path to celebrate life with others." she said.

The vibrant, incessant beat of Tiburones is an intoxicating three piece with enchanting harmonies and syncopated percussion, electric guitar, bass and keys.

Influenced by Neil Young, Patti Smith, Richard Brautigan and the pulse of the Velvet Underground, Tiburones frames the sound of folk, with beat heavy rhythms, and songs that split the sea.

The term "Little Warrior" references someone who appears small in day-to-day life, but is really fighting a battle towards good. LW's focuses on experimenting with recording and production techniques and creating vocal melodies that can act as an instrument. Interested in sociology, LW's lyrical content often focuses on technology, the media, and consumerism in our modern world.
