ABOUT MUSIC HEALS
Music Heals comprises a group of music enthusiasts and music lovers, who have come together under a common intention: to raise awareness of the healing powers of music.
Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Music has nonverbal, creative, structural, and emotional qualities. These are used in the therapeutic relationship to facilitate contact, interaction, self-awareness, learning, self-expression, communication, and personal development. The Music Heals Charitable Foundation supports a wide range of music therapy services to communities across Canada. Music Heals funds increased access to music therapy for patients in childrens’ hospitals, seniors’ centres, palliative care, AIDS & HIV programs, at-risk youth, rehabilitation, bereavement support, and more. Music Heals is a non-for-profit society, incorporated in BC, and is registered with the Canadian Revenue Agency as a Charitable Foundation.
