Colum Sands is a member of the internationally renowned Sands family from County Down, Northern Ireland.

This will be a first appearance for Colum in Montrose although his brothers, Tommy and Ben, have performed at Montrose Folk Club in the past.

Colum Sands has performed in over thirty countries throughout the world, confirming the universal appeal for the songs and stories with which he observes the minute and often humorous details of life.

Colum established his reputation as a songwriter with the release of his first solo album, Unapproved Road, in 1981. Songs from this album were soon in the repertoire of artists as diverse as Billy Connolly to Maddy Prior and June Tabor.

Colum Sands is also a distinguished Radio Broadcaster, working as a Presenter on both BBC Radio Ulster and also on BBC Radio 2.

He released his 9th album entitled "Turn the Corner" in 2013. Many of the ten original songs on the album have become firm favourites with audiences around the world.
