Free The Optimus:

Free The Optimus is a hip hop collective based out of Asheville, North Carolina. In live show form, FTO consists of MCs C.Shreve the Professor and Mike L!VE along with DJ Jet on the 1s and 2s. With 8 full length projects released since 2012 and multiple tours with the Hieroglyphics (A-Plus & Casual) under their belt, FTO seems poised to take things up a level or two. With live shows being one of the few dependable incomes in this crazy industry, the collective has focused intensely on solidifying a powerful stage performance, and has shared stages with Cannibal Ox, Three 6 Mafia, Illogic, Tanya Morgan, Gift of Gab, Big Pooh (Little Brother), the Illuzion, Crazyhorse & Colston, and many more. The musical focus is on rhythm exploration and raw lyricism…in the live setting this translates to an improvisational stream of consciousness where song structure is often tossed aside in favor of the vibe of the moment.

Pragmaddix:

Pragmaddix is a hip-hop duo consisting of Charlotte-based lyricists Qwyk Cardino and Artemis Diesel. The term pragmatics is defined as “a branch of linguistics that is concerned with the relationship of sentences to the environment in which they occur” or the knowledge of how language is typically used. From that we derived Pragmaddix, which is our interpretation of using broad language to communicate a specific context to the audience with an emphasis on lyricism in hip hop. With the belief that hip hop is a platform for individuals to express themselves honestly and artistically, we utilize our personas to demonstrate our depiction of everyday life and common experiences with unique, poetic style and abstract thinking.

The Last Word Benders:

Asheville grown nerdcore/hiphop outfit The Last Word Benders have been active as performers, booking agents, and event producers since 2013 when they made their performance debut at Multiverse Asheville’s Geek out convention. Since their initial appearance, the duo consisting of Midi Boss and Jeshua Morningstar have shared the stage with many reputable acts of all genres. Their list of notable featured appearances includes Ces Cru, SkyBlew, D&D Sluggers, 8-Bit Disaster, and the Extraordinary Contraptions--just to name a few. They have rapidly become known for their energetic performances, deep introspective lyrics, and witty fandom references. LWB is also part of the collective known as A.A.R.C (Asheville, Anime, Reigonal, Convention)- a quickly growing creative media convention which just enjoyed a successful first year.
