The French Broads

"A funky ass Blues Rock band hailing from the rectum of Franklin, North Carolina. We have a wide variety of influences ranging from Fall Out Boy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tower of Power, and The White Stripes. If you dig our music, hit us up, if you don't, you probably have genital warts."

The Sun Cans

When you listen to The Sun Cans, its hard to miss the band’s retro-inspired pop/rock songs with their catchy melodies, tight harmonies, and all-around positive vibes. But what you may have missed was the real story behind how The Sun Cans came to be.

In 2008, brothers Micaiah and Ethan Liner began creating music together. Before then, they never had much in common. In fact, they were, and still are, near polar opposites. Micaiah was the positive, crazy, happy-go-lucky guy, and Ethan was the serious, straightforward, artistic guy. And in many ways their musical tastes were as different as their personalities. Ethan had previously been involved in heavy metal and jazz bands while most of Micaiah’s experience was writing singer/songwriter style music on his beginner level acoustic guitar. Nevertheless, music brought the brothers together.

More specifically, both brothers became infatuated with the music of the 60’s and 70’s. They were amazed at how captivating a 2 minute Beatles song could be and blown away by the tight rhythm sections of bands like The Spinners and Steely Dan. And still by no means identical in their musical tastes, Micaiah and Ethan wanted to create something that was undeniably influenced by the music they had both grown to love.

This endeavor played out in one band and multiple recording projects before The Sun Cans came into existence. Over the years, the brothers worked to refine their vocal harmonies, to build interesting musical arrangements, and to grow as professional performers. They also learned to appreciate each others differences realizing that it was when they didn't see eye-to-eye that some of their best work was accomplished.

The only thing left was to find a band name. After many agonizing months of coming up with names only to trash them, Ethan sat down to a bowl of cereal one morning when "The Sun Cans" popped into his head. Micaiah felt the name perfectly captured their sound and latched on to it. They were ready.

After years of persistence, the brothers were on track to create a timeless pop/rock sound. And though the story is far from over, Micaiah and Ethan are confident that listeners everywhere will be totally swept up in the catchy, melodic, and upbeat music of The Sun Cans.
