This is a tremendous sing-along film set in 1980s Dublin. 14-year-old Conor is taken out of his posh school and sent to the local comprehensive. Partly for escape, mostly to impress an older girl, Conor forms a band. He and his friends distil the likes of Duran Duran and The Jam into their own compositions. It’s as much a story of brotherly love as romantic love, and equally moving on both counts.
Film Club members free. Non-members pay a £2.50 nightly membership fee at the door.
