AfriCairo أفريكايرو is a project led by Ahmed Omar to create a dialogue between diverse cultures in order to close the distances between communities in search for a common language within Africa: music.
Mazeek Band is a world music band based in Cairo, that began with the merge of two bands, Ashara Gharby & Uss we Lazq. After achieving great successes in the independent music scene, a few members from each band continued playing separately until the idea of creating a new band surfaced, paving the way for the initiation of Mazeek. MAZEEK managed to incorporate the members, ideas, songs and identities of both bands to create its own unique sound, blending Afro-beats, Oriental and Egyptian/Sudanese/North African Folk music.
