Party: Rodney DeCroo Record Release Party with special guests

Come celebrate the release of local singer-songwriter Rodney DeCroo’s new album Campfires on the Moon, plus special guests Great Aunt Ida & Mac Pontiac.

Rodney DeCroo
Burnt out by seven straight years of touring and recording five albums, Rodney DeCroo walked away from his band and his label after the release of 2010’s Queen Mary Trash. The double album he left behind—urgent, brash, ragged, full of spleen—now looks like a roadmap pointing to the emotional reckoning that lay ahead. DeCroo has produced something as beautiful on the surface as a dusk-painted reflecting pool, as shadowy below as his own tumultuous psyche. The gap between his inner and outer life has always been slender, but Campfires on the Moon—his debut on new label Tonic Records—gives us DeCroo at his most intimate.

Great Aunt Ida
Formed in 2003 as a vehicle for Victoria-born singer/songwriter Ida Nilsen, Great Aunt Ida has been based in Vancouver, Toronto, and Detroit, playing old-fashioned, intimate, and honest pop music in the vein of classic tunesmiths or modern pop craftsmen like Belle & Sebastian.

Mac Pontiac
Mac Pontiac is one of Vancouver’s most respected singer-songwriters with gritty tales rooted in tradition. He’s shared the stage with everyone from Wilco to Herald Nix. His early career was captured in the 1996 documentary Girlfriend Town, and, after a brief hiatus, Pontiac has returned to performing and recording in recent years as a staple in our rich roots community.
