Party: Spiders, Man - Jokes Please!

Jokes Please! Is an award-winning stand-up comedy show that happens every Thursday at LMG.

On New Year’s Eve I was hired to do comedy for about seven hundred well-dressed revelers. 2016 had been a long year and the guests were ready to let loose.

My job was to tell jokes from the large, ornate stage. At midnight I was to do the countdown. The band would strike up. Streamers would fly and hundreds of golden balloons held above the ballroom would be released.

Little did we know, each balloon held spiders.

2016 ended. Balloons fell. The crowd cheered. Then, all at once, like grotesque fireworks, the balloons burst. Thousands of spiders rained down upon the people below. The band hit their first note but it was drowned out by screams.

Spiders, man. You just never know when they'll be hiding in all of your balloons...
