Blues promoter Tony Cini, presents three world-class acts at The Vanguard on Friday, 14 May to launch his 6th edition of Tony Cini’s Blues Explosion – A Celebration of Australian Blues and Roots Music CD. Performing on the bill will be the soulful sounds of smooth operators The JHD Revival Band, high-energy Psychedelic Blues trio The Urban Chiefs and classic Blues guitarist and vocalist Cameron James Henderson.
The JHD Revival Band Led by Jazz-Blues guitarist John Hardaker, The JHD Revival Band are inspired by bands of the past such as The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers and current bands such as The Tedeschi-Trucks Band. The Revival Band was formed out of John Hardaker’s various Jazz and Blues groups in 2010 when he met Blues vocal sensation Emily Benson. John felt he had to build a band around Emily’s amazing voice so he formed The JHD Revival Band – a Blues band heavy on soul and funk, that features some of Sydney’s hottest conservatorium-trained musicians in its line-up.
The Urban Chiefs No strangers to the road and with over 400 shows under their belt since 2010, The Urban Chiefs are one of the countries hardest working roots/rock bands. Voted as one of the Top Blues and Roots Artists of 2013 by MUSICOZ, The Urban Chiefs mix psychedelic Blues and slide guitar and set the stage ablaze with their raw energy and original take on Blues music.
Cameron James Henderson Heavily influenced by the great Blues artists of the 20th century, Cameron James Henderson draws on the soul and tone of the classic Blues players like Albert King, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan whilst sounding current and unique to a modern generation of Blues listeners. Performing his own work, his repertoire includes big shuffles, funky grooves, straight ahead gospel stomps and some stripped back old school Blues tunes.
There are very few opportunities to see performers of this calibre on the same bill for a “One Night” only performance unless you are attending a festival. Mark the date in your calendars, you won’t be disappointed!
