Having stood firmly behind their scuzz-laden wall of guitar sounds at several searing gigs in the basement, we are delighted to welcome back the fuzzy, purposefully panoramic slacker grunge-rock of the pleasingly loud Birdcage.
Impressing audiences at Swn festival, for All My Friends and beyond, they self-describe their telos to be "taking pop melodies and mix them with crushing guitar noise, freight train drums, weaved together with groovy basslines".
Given that they seem to occupy several places at once - melodies that make your ears perk, riffs that recall slackerish Grunge and drums that bound you along before you even know where you are, it's credit to them that it all sounds of a piece - an intriguing mix rather than pulling different directions.
With them, we'll see Mirror Gorillas & Crystal Balloon.
