Party: SUP Club – Up the Creek

Well, we're super-pleased to see that the forecast is looking better by the hour – seems this high pressure has nudged our way a little after all, so we should be in for a lovely, mellow evening now! (Albeit with the caveat that there's an outside chance of a bit of easterly breeze by the end – nothing at all nasty, but we're still going against the grain so all we ask is that everyone coming tonight knows what they're doing and is prepared to put in a bit of effort if needs be... Which they most probably won't!) Anyway... So what's the plan? As ever at Two Tree these days, so as not to alert the authorities and attract a £4 slipway launch charge, we still don't want anyone to hit SS9 2GB (see www.supsect.com/two-tree-island) until 6.10pm so we all get there after the Foreshore Officer has left. Then we need everyone fully set soon after 6.30pm (please be prompt at 6.10 / 6.15 if you're pumping up), so that hirers / newer paddlers / shorter boards can launch first at 6.40pm, followed by all-comers at 6.45pm and finally full-on / raceboarders at 6.50pm. (Again, please let the hirers, newbies and sub-11-footers off first.) Even against a building ebb tide, we should make Benfleet Yacht Club maybe even the railway bridge before turning at 7.40 by which time we're nearly into the third hour of the outgoing tide which will sweep us home (carefully keeping to the deep channels!) into whatever breeze may or may not have materialised... Safely off the water by about 8.30pm, then after we're thinking of letting the Castle in Hadleigh know we're coming for dinner and drinks?
